Our Qualifications

Christine has a BA in Communication from Texas A&M University and a MA in Community Counseling from Sam Houston State University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC license #71081) and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She works in her private practice, Christine Hoover, LPC and has been working as a full time clinician since 2013. She is Level I and Level 2 trained by The Gottman Marriage Institute and is trained in the EMDR trauma recovery method. As if having her own business website and Cultivating Relationships is not enough, Christine also does a little bit of writing and she periodically posts those musings on her blog, A Soul Adventurer. She is an active member of Texas Counseling Association (TCA), American Counseling Association (ACA), and American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

Chris has a Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a MA degree in Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been on full-time church staff for over 29 years. He has been doing pastoral counseling since he started in ministry in 1990 and he is a Prepare and Enrich marriage facilitator and is trained in Level 1 of the Gottman Marriage Therapy Method. He has counseled couples in crisis, worked extensively with helping men break free from pornography, and guided many people through tough transitional life changes. He also spent a year as a hospice chaplain, providing end-of-life grief care. Chris is not a licensed counselor, but brings his years of pastoral counseling experience to benefit the couples attending our Cultivating Relationship Intensives. We believe growth, healing and integration are profoundly beautiful processes and we consider it a wonderful privilege to walk with couples into transformation and change.

Every year, Chris and Christine teach Cultivate, their own 6-week marriage enrichment class, combining spiritual principles, evidenced-based clinical interventions, healthy relational principles, and conflict resolution skills.
